Strawberries

Way back in March I planted some strawberry seeds in an attempt to prolong the strawberry season.  We are surrounded by fields of them here and I am always really sad when the season is over.  I bought seeds of the everbearing variety Florian F1 and sowed them.

A few weeks later they sprouted and I could already taste them.

This is what they look like now.  No, I did not accidentally post an old picture.  For some reason they did not make it and I am back to square one.  It really shouldn't matter because now I have these (incidentally they are doing great and I will post about them again soon) from Marie, but it is a matter of pride for me now.  Florian wants to play hard, I can do that.

  2. I have had the worst experiences trying to grow strawberries here. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but they all die or just never bear fruit.

Funnily enough, the plant that didn't do anything last year -and that I left on my balcony all winter in a corner- actually came up green again around Easter and now has 3 green little berries growing! I'm shocked!
